We are celebrating 17 years…how times flies!
My journey:
From Driving Force Women’s Golf Club’s co-founder to secretary in 2007 and 2008, historian 2013, vice-president 2014 and 2015 to President in year 2024. In 2008, I enjoyed planning and organizing the 1st AL/GA Shootout with Marva Simpson from GA. It was played on the challenging RTJ-Grand National Lake Course in Opelika, AL. We had 40 golfers to participate. Twenty from DFWGC and 20 from Browns Mill.
The preparation was worth it, when on February 22, 2014, I saw 36 Driving Force members carted and ready to play in our 1st Kick-off Scramble. It was fun, scheduling DFWGC volunteers for the LPGA Navistar and the Yokohama Golf Tournaments, from 2007 to 2014. We marshalled hole #2 and monitored the golf suites on hole #18 on the RTJ-Capitol Hill, Senator Course. In 2023, we were back, with 15 ladies, volunteering at the LPGA Epson/Guardian Championship Tournament. I have enjoyed this journey with DFWGC. Forty-seven invitations were sent for the first “We’re Coming Out” interest meeting. Thirty-four women attended that meeting. We have 58 ladies on our charter roster which was established in 2007. At the end of 2023, we were 67 members strong. Our membership has varied throughout the years, but…we are still here!
This year, 2024, I am looking forward to serving as Driving Force Women’s Golf Club’s 10th President.
We will be playing scheduled league play 3 to 4 times a month. We also, will continue to mentor youth golfers, support community golf tournaments as well as community outreach projects.
If you are available on October 5th, come cheer for the Driving Force Women as we compete in the AL/GA Shootout, at Lagoon Park. This will be our 13th year of the competition (4 years were missed because of weather, COVID and scheduling). I thank the Executive Board for their candid input and support in planning this year’s League Play activities and other events. To all of the women of Driving Force, I look forward to serving as your president, sharing and playing golf with you. Have a great year…living, serving and playing golf!

We’ve made many friends with the world’s best female golfers on the LPGA and enjoyed volunteering with their tournaments in Alabama. Our goal is to continue supporting and promoting golf. We are DRIVING FORCE WOMEN'S GOLF CLUB!
